Bhubaneswar is an ancient city in India’s eastern state of Odisha, formerly Orissa. Many temples built from sandstone are dotted around Bindu Sagar Lake in the old city, including the 11th-century Hindu Lingaraja Temple. Outside Rajarani Temple are sculpted figures of the guardians of the 8 cardinal and ordinal directions. Jain antiques, weaponry and indigenous pattachitra paintings fill the Odisha State Museum.

Itinerary

On arrival Bhubaneswar

Departure from Chennai airport. On arrival Bhubaneswar airport. Pick up from airport and then proceed towards hotel. Hotel check in. After dinner, overnight stay at hotel.

Bhubaneswar sightseeing

A full day tour of the city's temples in Bhubaneswar, including the Mukteswar Temple, one of the most significant temples in the city and one that was heavily influenced by Buddhism. Afterwards, the State Museum of Odisha (Orissa) houses numerous Buddhist sculptures gathered from various Buddhist archeological sites in Odisha (Orissa) and the Khandagiri and Udaygiri Jain Caves, which date back to the second century BC. Spend the night in the hotel.

Bhubaneswar sightseeing

Visit Dhauli Famous for Ashokan Rock Edicts and Place where battle of Kalinga was Fought which made a great change of Ashok mind so that he became Buddhist. Also Visit Peace Pagoda. Later visit Pipili applique works and World heritage site Sun Temple of Konark(Watch the Buddhist influence on this temple) & Famous Jagannath Temple and Back to Bhubaneswar. Overnight at Hotel.

Bhubaneswar sightseeing

A full day excursion to Lalitigiri, an archeological site of a Buddhist monastery from the fourth to the eighth century AD, featuring monastic sections and several votive stupas sculpted by various Buddhist artists, a Chaita hall, and a massive stupa that contains caskets containing Buddha's relics. During the 4th to 14th century AD, Ratnagiri, the largest Buddhist monastery that we are currently aware of, flourished. It housed hundreds of votive and brick stupas, a large monastery, and the majority of the sculptures of the Vajrayanic sect. Visit Udayagiri, a huge Buddhist monastery that is still being excavated, later on. Next, return to Bhubaneswar. Spend the night in the hotel.

Bhubaneswar sightseeing

Full day visit Kayam Hill Buddhist cave and Langudi Giri which one of recent excavation with ruins of Monastery, Stupas and lot of Mahayanic sculptors, Five Dhyani Buddhas. Back to Bhubaneswar. Overnight at Hotel.

Departure

Morning having breakfast and then check out from hotel. Finally drop at Bhubaneswar airport.
